Ms Romney has also received two official West Indies jerseys for herself and her companion, caps and other paraphernalia.
Responding, the lucky winner said she was very happy to have won and was grateful to Cable and Wireless for the opportunity to see the exciting World Cup finals.
C&W’s Chief Executive, Sutcliffe Hodge, stated that he always felt that the person winning the offer would be very pleased with the tickets which he described as of excellent value. “I think it is fantastic to be part of this historic occasion which might not come back to the region in my life time,” he told Ms Romney. “It is something that you can tell your grandchildren about and I wish you luck and an enjoyable time.”
Marketing Manager, Giesel Francis, said that although the West Indies team did not make it to the semi-finals or finals, Cable and Wireless was still very happy to have been a major sponsor of Cricket World Cup. She noted that the presentation to Ms Romney was part of an offer by other branches of the company all across the Caribbean as far north as Jamaica and Cayman and as far south as Trinidad.
Miss Francis said Ms Romney was a very valuable customer of Cable and Wireless, Anguilla. She was among thousands of other customers who either paid-up their bills, purchased a new cellular phone, new service or accessory or signed up for internet. She emerged the winner of the draw.
Speaking about other activities, promotions and trivia undertaken by the company, during the cricket series, she said that there had been many repeated winners in Anguilla.
“I think Anguilla, Jamaica, Dominica and possibly St. Lucia, are the most prolific islands in terms of customers participating and winning in the various competitions,” she reported. “Our figures are very, very impressive. Anguilla appears to be leading not only in the northern bureaus, but across the Caribbean region… So we really want to congratulate our customers for moving along with the technology using MMS or SMS and being part of the ultimate experience of Cricket World Cup 2007.”
