| Publishing date: 27.04.2007 10:17 |
Matches continued in the 2007 CCB sponsored Senior Male Cricket League saw ALHCS (School) take on the defending champions Farrington Blue Jays. School won the toss and put the Blue Jays in to bat. The Farrington Team cumulated a meager total of 152 off 27 overs failing to utilize their full allotment of 30. The Adams brothers contributed most of the runs to the Blue Jays total with Alex hitting a spanking 71, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes, while Terry supported him with a quick 45, smashing 6 fours and a massive six.

The pick of the school’s bowlers was Kelbert Walters with an excellent 6 over bowling spell. Although he proved expensive by conceding 40 at a rate of almost 7 runs per over, it seemed minor as he bagged 6 important wickets to dismantle the Blue Jays innings. He was ably supported by Shridath Rey with bowling figures of 5 overs for 21 at a rate of 4.2 runs per over and taking 2 wickets in the process.
In the School’s inning at the crease, they cruised to a total of 156 for the loss of 3 wickets off of 26.1 overs. Teenage sensation Chesney Hughes lived up to expectations with a splendid 52 consisting 5 fours to top score for the ALHCS. Other notable mentions were Rondal Lake scoring 33 (also hitting 5 fours) and the diminutive wicketkeeper batsman Jamar Hamilton who smacked a quick 30 that included 4 fours. All rounder Shridath Rey also provided 16 with the bat.
There were 3 bowlers taking wickets for the Farrington Blue Jays in their attempt to sideline the ALHCS’ innings. Daniel Proctor had bowling figures of 4 overs for 37 for wicket. Alex Adams conceded 24 runs off of his allotment of six overs for 1 wicket and Travis Carter took the other wicket off 4 overs while conceding 18 runs to the Schools’ score line.
ALHCS won the game by 7 wickets and they are undefeated in the early stages of the CCB-sponsored Senior Male Cricket League at 2- 0. The Saturday contest between Police and The Masters was called off because of rain. More exciting cricket continues this coming weekend.
The upcoming matches are Police vs. Cuisinart to be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2007 and Cap Juluca vs. Masters on Sunday, April 29th, 2007.
