Major refurbishment work has been ongoing throughout the property for the past two months as part of the resort’s annual summer maintenance programme. In addition to renovating and repainting all of the resort’s 98 rooms, a style consultant was brought in to refresh the room décor and bring back many of the hotel’s original Moorish elements throughout the property and to create a feel of old world charm and a timeless look of simplicity and beauty.

Setting the tone for the resort’s upcoming 19th season of operation is last month’s announcement that Cap Juluca ranked #1 in the Caribbean for the fifth consecutive year by readers of Andrew Harper’s “Hideaway Report”, the ultimate travel guide for sophisticated travelers seeking candid reviews of international hotels and resorts. In addition, the hotel ranked 6th among the Top 20 International Resorts.

The hotel’s annual Re-Opening and Employee Recognition and Awards celebration will take place on Wednesday, October 25th. Cap Juluca’s 2005-2006 Employee of the Year, Supervisor of the Year and Guest Choice recipient will be named as part of the awards celebration and a number of Julucans will be recognized as Departmental Stars as well as for15 years service to the resort. The ceremony will also feature American Inspirational Speaker and author Curtis Zimmerman, who delivers one of the most dynamic interactive and entertaining programs on America’s corporate lecture circuit today.

A list of past clients includes such notable international organizations as Walt Disney Entertainment, Timex, Tropical Shipping and Construction, United States Air Force and more than 30 US colleges and universities. More recently, Zimmerman was the keynote speaker at the Caribbean Hotel Association’s annual CHIC conference held in Miami in June. He wowed a crowd of more than 800 tourism industry officials and representatives with his keynote address “Living Life at Performance Level” mesmerizing them with his special blend of high-energy motivation and entertaining style.

Cap Juluca closed the 2004-2005 year with an average annual occupancy of 91 per cent and will reopen for the 2006-2007 season will a full house. Many staff members have returned to work this week to participate in departmental training in preparation for the hotel’s reopening.
