Cable & Wireless Announces Simple Roaming Rates & International Pre-paid Roaming |
| Publishing date: 05.05.2006 10:37 |
West Indies, 3 May, 2006 -- Today Cable & Wireless announced a new roaming proposition that makes roaming simpler and easy to use for all bmobile customers. With the new rates, mobile customers can call home from the most popular travel destinations for as little as 25 cents US a minute, and the longer they talk, the cheaper it gets.
|
Both post-pay and pre-pay customers can enjoy simple price plans for making and receiving calls between all bmobile countries in the Caribbean, and on T-Mobile in the USA. This single, straight-forward pricing structure enables travelers to anticipate the cost of communicating whilst abroad. And bmobile remains the only company to offer Postpaid customers free incoming calls when they are roaming in any other bmobile country. Keep your phone on when traveling – it’s affordable to stay in touch!
“This is an exciting development, as it gives customers what they’ve told us they want,” explained Paul Hamburger, Chief Commercial Officer, Cable & Wireless Americas & Caribbean. “We have been listening to what our customers think about roaming for the past several months. Although many of them thought roaming was useful for keeping in touch with family, friends and colleagues, they were concerned by the confusing and expensive costs. Also, we know our pre-paid customers were very keen to be able to make calls from the States, and beyond. Today’s announcement addresses these concerns and eliminates the barriers to staying in touch whilst abroad.”
All customers will automatically receive the new rates at no extra cost. Roaming charges for text, data services and all routes other than between bmobile services and T-Mobile in the US remain as they were before.
In line with the launch of the new bmobile roaming rates, for the first time bmobile pre-paid customers can roam beyond the Caribbean. bmobile prepaid customers can roam in all 13 countries where bmobile operates, as well as to the USA on the T-Mobile network. bmobile’s prepaid global roaming footprint will expand quickly in the coming months, with new coverage areas in the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, India and beyond.
Customers using bmobile post-paid voice service can roam to over 80 countries, on over 100 networks. For more information about bmobile roaming coverage areas, please call us on 1800 804 2994.
Roaming Tips from bmobile
Before you go…
1. Make sure that you have the roaming feature activated on your account. Roaming is automatically activated for all pre-paid customers. Post-paid customers can ensure they are activated by visiting a bmobile store or calling Mobile Enquiries on 1 800 804 2994. After the roaming feature is activated, be sure to switch the phone off and on in your home country before heading abroad – this will enable the network to register your new roaming feature.
2. Let friends, family and colleagues know that they can call you whilst you are away. It’s still a local call for them, and a lot more convenient and less expensive than trying to track you down at a hotel!
3. Store the toll free number in your phone, so that you can easily get answers to any questions you have whilst traveling. All your queries can be answered by the helpful agents on 1 800 804 2994.
With bmobile it’s easy for pre-pay roamers to TopUp whilst abroad!
• bmobile retail: In any country served by bmobile, visit any bmobile retail shop, and give the retailer your 10-digit mobile number. Pay for airtime in local currency and funds are converted to your account in your home currency. Currently available in 12 bmobile countries, launching with bmobile/TSTT in Trinidad & Tobago in May.
• Phone a friend: call and ask a friend or family member back home to eTopUp your phone. All they’ll need is your 10-digit mobile number (and some cash!)
Storing phone numbers in International Format makes calling easier.
To make dialing easier when roaming, save phone numbers in +1 (ten digit number) format in your mobile phone book. The “+” sign is the international symbol for international dialing, and “1” is the international code signifying the Caribbean and North America. Saving numbers in this format takes almost no extra time, and makes dialing whilst abroad much easier. Next time you get someone’s digits – stick a +1 in front of the number when saving it, so you can call with no hassle when you are overseas.
Anywhere you can roam, you can text!
Texting whilst roaming works for both pre-pay and post-pay mobile customers. It’s another great way to keep in touch!
bmobile offers customers more worldwide data roaming coverage than any other Caribbean provider.
bmobile customers wishing to use data services whilst roaming (for example email via the Blackberry, or music downloads) can do so in nearly 40 countries on nearly 50 networks. This is the largest data roaming footprint offered to customers in the Caribbean. For more information about data roaming, visit Cable & Wireless in Telecoms House or call 1 800 804 2994.
