Senior Health Educator, Civilla Kentish said the health fair was aimed at highlighting a number of conditions which were on the increase in Anguilla – diabetes, hypertension and cancer. Health care providers took the opportunity to conduct blood sugar and blood pressure checks and to counsel persons with high levels of one or both of them.

The fair also included a nutrition display showing a variety of foods which can reduce obesity and the threat of associated diseases. Other displays were in relation to dental care, taking into account the high incidence of problems mainly affecting children; protection against HIV/AIDS, a major concern on the island and environmental health protection, particularly vector control and water purification.
