737 Jet Makes New York, Anguilla Flight

The steady fleet of executive jets flying into Wallblake Airport from the United States and other parts of the world, following the extension of the runway just over a year ago, has been accentuated by the landing of a Boeing 737-200 jet on a direct chartered flight from La Guardia, New York.

The aircraft, piloted by Robert Klassen, flew to Anguilla on Friday, February 17 at about 8.55 p.m. as many persons from across the island crowded the north sections of the perimeter fence to witness its arrival.

On board were 20 passengers who stayed on the island for until Monday evening, February 20, when the aircraft departed Wallblake Airport. It is understood that the flight crew were accommodated at Paradise Cove Resort, while the passengers were guests at Altamer Resort.

President of Lloyd’s Aviation Services, David Lloyd, commented that it was a pleasure for his company to have handled the local arrangements for the aircraft and its crew and passengers.

The jet has a wing-span of 93 feet and a height of 37 feet. The aircraft was built to carry just over 100 passengers but has been configured to seat over 20 passengers in luxury and comfort.
