PHOTO OF THE WEEK: Artist In The Making

In this photo, Khondah Hazell, a Sixth Form student at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School, appears to be simply using her painting skills to adorn a portion of the inside wall of the school’s perimeter fence.

Her artwork is more than that, however. “This is my SBA for art and design for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE),” she told The Anguillian as she meticulously brushed the colourful patterns of beauty in place.

“It is a Caribbean scene,” she went on. “It comprises a sunset, a backdrop with a boat-racing scene along with a tropical theme. There are also the Arawak pictographs and petroglyphs that we find in the different caves in Anguilla.”
The student artist is the daughter of the Principal of the School, Darwin Hazell and Mrs. Louise Hazell.
