Judy Guthrie Exhibits At Devonish Gallery

The paintings of Judy Guthrie, a Canadian now resident in Anguilla, are currently on show at the Devonish Gallery along with the work of two visiting artists.

She is a self-taught artist who has only been painting for the past five years but this could never be known from seeing her work which is of a high standard. She says the beauty of Anguilla inspires her work which is mostly of seascapes and landscapes of the island.

There are fifteen paintings at the exhibition all using oil on canvas. They are framed in sisal that gives an unusual finish. Judy says she took a watercolour class in 2000, moved to using oils the next year and has been painting ever since. She also teaches music to primary school children.

A visit to the Devonish Gallery to view the work of Judy, that will be on show until the end of the month, is refreshing.
