New Governor For Anguilla


The new Governor of Anguilla in succession to His Excellency Alan Huckle, is Andrew Neil George who will be taking up his appointment in mid next year.

On Tuesday November 29, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London announced that Her Majesty The Queen had been pleased to approve Mr. George’s appointment.

A release from Government House in Anguilla stated that Mr. George is currently working in the Human Resources Directorate of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He is married and has two children.

Mr. George, who was born on October 9, 1952, has had a long career in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He has held the following appointments over the years: Assistant Director with the Human Resources Directorate (2003-2005); Commercial Counsellor in Jakarta (2002); Ambassador, Asencion (1998-2001); Head of Section, Counter Proliferation Department (1995-1998); Assistant Head, Eastern Department (1994-1995); Assistant Head, Republic of Ireland Department (1993-1994); First Secretary and Head of Chancery, Bangkok (1988-1992); First Secretary Chancery, Canberra (1984-1988); Under-Secretary/Director General (1982-1984); Desk Officer, West African Department (1981-1982 and 1974-1975); Desk Officer, South American Department (1980-1981) and Second Secretary, Chancery in Bangkok (1976-1980).
