| Publishing date: 18.11.2005 09:37 |
It is not known how many high profile persons were among the many visitors who flocked to Anguilla for the Tranquility Jazz Festival. However, The Anguillian’s attention was drawn to one of them as he sat dining and chatting away with a number of his accompanying friends at Johnno’s Beach Bar at Sandy Ground.

“Come with us to meet a visiting actor who has a number of fans in Anguilla,” said Myrna Sasso to the Editor of The Anguillian, taking along her friend, Lisa Webster as well.
Smiling broadly, the actor rose to his feet to greet the newspaperman.
“I am Darien Wilson of Los Angeles, California, and the show that I am on is called The Parkers,” he introduced himself.
“What brought you to Anguilla at this time,” he was asked.
“The Tranquility Jazz Festival, of course,” he replied, suggesting that it was something big and attractive. “I love great music, I love jazz and this is my first time in Anguilla so I am having a great time.”
“How did you hear about the festival?” he was questioned.
“I am here with seven of my best friends and we all passed the word around, but we will have to tell more people to come next year,” he responded. “I will definitely be back. The music was off the hook.”
Asked about his show, Mr. Wilson said: “I play Professor Oglevee and I am running away from Miss Parker every week on the show. The Parkers is about a mother and daughter coming of age. They go back to school together at a junior college where I am a professor. The mother has this incredible crush on me and both of them are a kind of heavy-set women, but they are enduring...”
Myrna, a senior employee at the Caribbean Commercial Bank, expressed her thoughts about Wilson’s show: “I have been watching it for many years now. It is a great show. I just wanted them [the script writers] to write in a little part for him to treat Nicky a little better, but at the end of the show he actually marries her.”
The actor bowed his head in laughter.
What he thought about the island was the final question he was asked by The Anguillian. His reply was spontaneous. “I think it is beautiful and I am having a great time staying at CuisinArt Resort. It is really lovely.”
