CM Hails Deputy Governor Post For Anguillian

At a press conference on Wednesday, November 2, Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming said the agreement by the UK Government, following discussions with the Anguilla Government to localise the post of Deputy Governor as from next year, is a step in the right direction.

“It has brought great comfort and joy to me,” Mr. Fleming stated. “Nobody has been earmarked for the post. It is for all suitably-qualified Anguillians whether in Anguilla or in various parts of the world to apply.”

The Chief Minister was grateful to Governor Alan Huckle for supporting the Government in having the Deputy Governor’s post localised. He was also pleased that the Governor had assured him that he would not decide on a candidate before consulting him. “It will give me great comfort and joy to see an Anguillian in the post. All qualified nationals are therefore encouraged to apply,” he reiterated.
