Johnson is very active with the youth in Anguilla. For the past 8 years he has been the coordinator of the All Ah Wee Young Theatre Players and helps to build creative skills of its members through dance, drama and youth development training sessions. He taught at the Stoney Ground Primary School where he headed the Science and Environment Club and coached pupils for the spelling bee and football and athletics. He is currently a teacher at the Campus B of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School where he is the games master. He organizes many football training camps and programmes for juniors and seniors and is the coach for the national female football team.
Browne explained that the Unsung Heroes competition is held annually by the First Caribbean Bank and last year’s winner in Anguilla was Michael Fleming. This year there were four nominees and the winner was chosen by judges Colville Petty, Bishop Errol Brooks, Anne Edwards, Sandra Lake and Anthony Browne.
Johnson expressed his pleasure in being honoured and thanked First Caribbean for recognizing him. He says he enjoys working with young people and will continue his many activities.
First Caribbean through the Unsung Heroes programme aims to acknowledge those persons in the community who go about their community work without consideration for reward or acclaim. This is the third year the Bank has held the programme which they say will continue to promote Caribbean pride through the example and work of the Unsung Heroes.
Browne thanked Johnson for all his hard work and wished him every success in the future.
