Revised Schedule of Electoral Symbols

The Supervisor of Elections, Mr Colville Petty, has issued a press release advising all political parties, prospective candidates and other interested persons, that the Executive Council has approved a revised schedule of electoral symbols for elections in Anguilla.

The new symbols are the result of a revision exercise in which the Supervisor of Elections, via the print media, radio and telephone, invited the leaders of all political parties and prospective candidates in the upcoming elections, as well as members of the general public, to make recommendations for inclusion in a revised schedule.
The revision was aimed at putting in place a schedule of symbols that were relevant to the vision of political parties, independent candidates and other political interests, and at increasing their numbers to facilitate the growing number of candidates contesting elections.
The Executive Council approved all of the recommendations submitted by the different political parties and interests and the new schedule of symbols now comprise the following: the hat, bottle, hammer, shoe, saw, fork, knife, tree, aeroplane, bicycle, car, cup, heart, concrete building-block, book, broom, key, dolphin, dove, fish, boat, shovel, beacon and wheelbarrow.
Mr Petty has advised all concerned to call at the elections office, in the House of Assembly building, and ask for a form on which to apply for the allotment of a symbol of their choice.
