A new shuttle for meeting passengers at SXM
If you are planning a trip to Anguilla, here is some important information about getting to the island that will save you lots of time and energy.
FIRST: Don't try booking a flight to Anguilla AXA
Type in SXM, not AXA
Anguilla has a regional airport and has no flights directly from America or Europe. But, we do have the island of Sint Maarten only a 20 minute boat ride from Anguilla. Sint Maarten has a very nice, modern international airport with flights from USA and Europe.
So when you are booking your flight, type in SXM, arrive in St. Maarten and get a ferry or shuttle boat to Anguilla. It is a short pleasant trip and a great way to begin your holiday. Best part, the regular ferry is only $15.00 per person one way.

If you are arriving at Princess Juliana airport get a taxi to Marigot ferry port and sign up for the next ferry. Here is all the information you need.

Anguilla is just a short 20 minute ferry ride from St. Martin. Anguilla has a ferry system that runs all day long every 45 minutes until 7:00PM.
Go to the ferry port in Marigot on the French side of St. Martin.
When you enter the port, there is a sign in booth for the next ferry.
Give the attendant your passport.
He will give you a ticket for the ferry.
He may also give you a form for customs in Anguilla.
Across the hall is the tax booth, pay $5.00 US per person.
He will give you a tax slip. Hang on to all these items.
Next go in the door and present your passport to the immigration officer.
He will stamp your passport and then you can go into the waiting area where there is a snack bar and a restroom.
Boarding the Ferry
When the attendant calls, proceed to the door and hand him your ticket and tax slip.
You might want to fill out your customs form while you wait, since you have nothing to delcare and you will only be on Anguilla for the day it will be easy.
Get on the boat, it is a short ride to Anguilla and both islands are in view the whole time.
Anguilla Ferry Information
During your ride a crew member will ask for the ferry fee. $15.00 per person. He will also give you an immigration slip. It is short, just fill it out.
At the port in Anguilla, get off the boat and follow everyone up to immigration and customs.
Present your passport and immigration slip to the Immigration officer.
After you pass immigration, go to customs and tell them if you have anything to delcare. Your personal belongings are not subject to duty.
Then walk out the door, there are taxis waiting.
Returning to Marigot
After your stay on Anguilla head back to the ferry. When you get to the port go into the ferry terminal and hand your passport and immigration slip to the attendant at the first window.
She may ask for your ferry fee at that time. $15.00 per person.
Next window get your departure tax slip. final departure tax: $20.00US per person
Then go through security.
They will ask to see your passport and your depature tax slip.
Go into departure lounge and wait for the next ferry.
20 minutes later you arrive at the port in Marigot.
Go to Immigration, wait in line and then show them your passport. Depart the port.
Get a taxi back to the airport SXM and catch your flight.
Suppose your flight is too early for the ferry?
Anguilla is working on a dock for people arriving from SXM but it is not finished yet.
If your flight is too early for the ferry or shuttle, you might have to spend your last night in St. Maarten.
