| Publishing date: 22.12.2011 12:11 |
On Tuesday 20th December Viceroy Anguilla held an exciting “Pep Rally” for its full complement of permanent staff, seasonal workers and corporate assistants. The lively “Pep Rally” - which took the form of a party - was designed to both motivate and thank the 600 plus staff at the Anguilla resort who will be looking after over 650 guests this festive season. The hotel will be at 100% occupancy this weekend.

This will be Viceroy Anguilla’s third Festive Season and as they say - they are no longer the new kids - and the property and its staff will need to work to the highest of standards, learn from the lessons of previous years and be totally ‘focused on service” if they are to continue to win rave reviews from their guests.
The luxury resort is looking forward to a phenomenal high season - with the property at 100% occupancy for much of the festive period. The General Manager, Jeff David estimates that an astounding $7 million dollars worth of revenue will be generated over 14 days. The hardworking staff has been given a theme song for this season “Roll Up” by Wiz Khalifa. The idea is that all staff should “Roll Up – when a guest needs you, when your colleague needs you, when your family needs you.” The catchy tune caught on quickly and it was thrilling to hear as the voices of hundreds of staff joined together and sang along in harmony.
The “Pep Rally” was the brainchild of the Hotels hardworking HR Department and the dynamic General Manger Jeff David – who certainly approaches his role with plenty of Pep. Tanya Maynard Brown of the HR Department said “ Its an opportunity to motive our colleagues, to come together as a family, to share a special moment together” As well as the enjoyable programme of entertainment - the Executive Council also handed out Christmas gifts of either Ham or Turkeys to all staff.
As the Viceroy “colleagues” arrived at the event they were welcomed by the Executive Committee who personally thanked them for their hard work. After that the programme of activities started: The MC for the party was Remy Minette and the proceeds unfolded swiftly. One entertaining highlight when the General Manager Jeff David was escorted on stage to the Star Wars march by Gladiators in full regalia – the Gladiators were of course Viceroy Colleagues Tweedy, Ian and Sameek.
The opening prayer was delivered by Olivette Riley who made special mention of Viceroy Colleague Saleem Brooks – who was recently shot. The PEP rally organizers suggested a voluntary donation for Saleems healthcare and wished him a swift recovery.

The prayer was followed by Rudolf Lewis (Sensi) who sang the Viceroy Mission statement – an unusual and highly creative way to present the company values and vision with an Anguillian twist. Then another key member of the Viceroy team – Danny Bryan aka “Old Man Numcy” performed a specially written skit to the great enjoyment of the audience.
The final part of the proceedings was a Department Roll Call introduced by Resort Manager Richard Alexander – where each department got a shout out and a cheer – a great and motivational way to recognize all the staff. Finally the General Manager Jeff David finished up the formal part of the proceedings with a brief address – exhorting all staff to ‘roll up’ as he sang along with Shendell Carty of Exodus Band.
The Viceroy Colleagues then had plenty of time to enjoy Music by Exodus Band and DJ Sugar, feast on some delicious Chicken and Ribs and finally depart with their Christmas hams and turkeys.
When asked what they thought of the Pep Rally all questioned were very positive Quotes ranged from “good idea”, and “motivational” to “I really enjoyed it – it was a great opportunity to bond with my team before the busy season”.
