No-Walls Church Presents Again
|
In a flurry of excitement and appreciation at the No-Walls Church of Hope on the evening of Friday, August 29th, some 72 children, primarily students attending the Valley Primary School, were presented with a new supply of bags, books, and miscellaneous school supplies for the new school year.

Church presents gifts of backpacks to school children in Anguilla
|
Pastors James and Pat Harrigan were delighted to distribute these valuable school items to the happy gathering of students, many of whom were accompanied by their thankful parents. The pastors were assisted by church members Teacher Keren Glascow and Tr. Maxine Alanzo, both members of the faculty at Campus “B”.
The six dozen attractive back-packs were donated by the sterling efforts of Anguillian Kate Rogers of Stoney Ground, now residing in Lakeland Florida. The gifts were actually made possible through the generous cooperation of Belk Department Store of Lakeland, the Belk Family and many of the Belk Store colleagues with whom Kate works.
This is the second year that Kate has undertaken this noble project as a catalyst for contributing to the cause of education in her home community via the assistance of the Belk Store. Last year, similar presentations were made to selected students of the Stoney Ground Primary School as well.
Kate, along with Anguillian native Joseph “Joe B” Williams, originally of Cauls Bottom, shouldered the task of packing and shipping the school supplies, in early August, via Tropical Shipping. Providentially, “Joe B” himself is an employee of Tropical Shipping in Florida.
Earlier last month, the Stoney Ground Primary along with The Valley Primary were also grateful recipients of a generous supply of reading books for the schools’ libraries, donated by three elementary schools of Lakeland and the dedicated charitable efforts of these two patriotic individuals who continue to demonstrate an avid interest in the education of young students in Anguilla.
It is intended that in years to come all school communities on the island will benefit from such contributions made possible through Kate, “Joe B”, and the Belk Company.
In a brief exhortation to the youngsters and their parents, Pastor James made mention of the fact that though he is duly concerned about their educational interests, and their social well-being, the church is especially interested in their spiritual outlook and the development of their relationship with Jesus Christ as their Savior in these crucial times. He insisted that apart from ministering to their other human needs, the church’s main mission is to present the gospel message of salvation and eternal security for every child’s future well-being.
Prior to distributing the presents, Co-Pastor Pat offered a fervent prayer on the students’ behalf. She prayed for their protection from the evil forces that would seek to interfere with their peace in the school environment, as well as for the renewal of the students’ minds for their receptiveness to learning. In addition, she prayed for the preservation of the youngsters’ honor for their parents and other authorities, and for the maintenance of their own self-respect, as well as respect for their teachers and their peers. She also offered special supplication for the parents, praying that God’s continued favour would be upon them in supplying them with jobs that would provide adequate livelihoods for themselves and their families.
On behalf of the children and their appreciative parents, the pastors and members of No-Walls Church wish to thank Kate, “Joe B”, and particularly members of the Belk family and Belk employees for their generous gestures. The church would like to wish all the young students, their parents, and their teachers a very productive and successful school year.
