Teacher Gloria Omololu Excels And Reaches For Higher Summits |
In its fourteenth year of innovative educational excellence the Teacher Gloria Omololu Institute continues on its trail blazing path as a leader in education on Anguilla!
The 2008 – 2009 academic year has opened with many significant achievements that have demonstrated that the Institute’s educational programme is delivering on its promise to help children to “reach for the summit”!
The recently released 2008 CAPE examination results at the Albena Lake Hodge reveal the amazing facts that three of the top five students were former primary school students of the Teacher Gloria Omololu Institute! Two of the three top students of Form Six B were Omololu students, Olufunmike Banks Devonish and Amanda Romney, while Alexander Orchard, who earned one of the two best CAPE results in Form Six A, was also an Omololu student! The staff and management of the Institute extend hearty congratulations to these three students who have joined the ranks of several Omololu primary school graduates who epitomize the Omololu commitment to reach for their summit!
Over the years the Teacher Gloria Omololu Institute has been able to bring together a group of highly qualified and committed teachers to produce the excellent students for which it is widely reputed. This year is no exception. Joining Columbia Teachers’ College graduate Principal Jahi Rohrer as Deputy Principal is another Columbia Master’s Level graduate in educational leadership, Ms Johane Ligone. The new kindergarten teacher, is another university graduate, Du ’Charm Archer from New York, who has an international teaching career which spans the United States and Africa. Other outstanding Omololu staff include returning Teachers Aretha Morgan, Raquel Graham, Natasha Welcome, Tamara Young, Monicia Vanterpool, Janine Johnson and Executive Director Dr Oluwakemi M Linda Banks.
At this time a new management team has come on board to propel the Institute towards financial sustainability by a programme of creative fundraising initiatives which was launched last month with a successful golf tournament. The progressive board of directors includes Francie Whitlock Tanner, Catalina Hawley, Ira Bloom, Robin Ricketts, Frederick Harrigan, Courtney Abel, Sue Ricketts, Kenn Banks, Dean Hapgood, Valeria Zaharia, and founder Dr Oluwakemi M Linda Banks. The team is excited to attain another Omololu milestone by working with staff, parents and community friends to complete the institute’s new campus in time for January 2009!
The Teacher Gloria continues to express its gratitude to the government of Anguilla and the community for their ongoing support. Parents and guardians in the community are invited to call the Institute at 497 5430 or to visit its website at www.omololu-institute.com to join the group of enlightened parents who have enrolled their children at this exceptional institute!
