St. Mary's Pre-school Graduation

The Principal and Staff of St. Mary’s Pre-school invited The Anguillian to their graduation ceremony late last week amidst a series of end of year programmes held by all of the schools on the island.

The programme brochure showed that 30 boys and 22 girls graduated from St. Mary’s Pre-school. They are now set to enter the public primary schools when the new school year begins in September.

The varied programme had as its theme “Stars of the Future” and was attended by a large number of parents and other members of the public. It was held at the Stoney Ground Primary School where there are auditorium facilities for such big functions.

St. Mary’s Pre-School has its own premises behind the Public Library having moved there some years ago from the nearby old and inadequate Boys’ School. The Principal is Mrs. Hazel Brooks who delivered the Annual Report.

The Anglican Church also operates a Pre-school at St. Augustine’s East End. The Anglican Church, like the Methodist Church, has a long history of involvement in early education in Anguilla.

There are other pre-schools on the island including the Central Baptist Church (which is building a new education centre), First Baptist Church, Church of God of Prophecy and Church of God (Holiness), the Teacher Gloria Omolulu Institute (which is also building a new school), the Bethel Methodist Pre-School and Liz Pre-School.
These privately-run schools, as well as the public schools, have all held graduation programmes between last week and this week.
