Members of the media were invited to Digicel’s office in The Valley for a press briefing in which Mrs. Stephenie Brooks, Country Manager, simply stated that she was very excited about the line-up this year. She immediately handed over the floor to Mr. Fitzroy Tomlinson, festival coordinator with the Anguilla Tourist Board in which he said, “we are pleased to partner with Digicel again. Their help with the marketing of the festival and support in general is paramount.”

Digicel’s commitment to this year’s carnival will be the same as last year. It is to the tune of EC $125,000 in cash and in kind services. Gecheal Richardson-Gumbs from Inland Revenue was also at the briefing and mentioned, “we are very pleased to have Digicel’s support as carnival is very expensive. Last year the total cost was EC $1.5 million and we want to stay in that range this year. Digicel will help us by paying for 50% of the entire EC $250,000 that will be spent on marketing.

We are also encouraging other businesses or organizations to come on board to help as well.” Digicel will help with the print aspect, newspapers, radio, banners, billboards and tickets. Ms. Brooks confirmed that the marketing of the summer festival will be a joint collaboration between the Anguilla Tourist Board and Digicel.
