C & W OFFERS HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE

Cable and Wireless has launched a new high speed internet service in Anguilla, as part of its ongoing efforts to use cutting-edge technology to meet the needs of its customers.

Internet and Data Services, Charmaine Sasso, said the new product, called Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), allows customs to use their existing telephone line as an always-on high internet connection using the latest technology available.
“This means you can use your telephone to make calls without interrupting your always- on internet connection,” she said. “Just imagine never having to wait for your modems to connect when you become an ADSL customer. Every time you need access to the internet just click and surf,” Miss Sasso said at the launching on October 30.
According to Local Account Manager, Toshsharnii Bin-Nassir, the new system offers more band width over the existing copper telephone wires, allows simultaneous voice and a super fast internet service.
It enables customers to download information such as MP3 music files and web pages up to 30 times faster than the 56k dial-up modem. Large data files can be downloaded and uploaded at lightning-fast speeds; rapid file transfers between locations can take place and there is high-speed sending and receiving of e-mails.
The ADSL package pricing is as follows: Ultra Package: EC179 monthly flat rate and $400 for installation; Select Package: $249 monthly and $400 for installation; Premier Package: $599 monthly; and Deluxe Package: $999 monthly. USB Port Modems are available at EC$580 and Speed Touch Pro Modems at EC$750 each.
Customers desirous of obtaining this high-speed internet service are required to complete and submit an application form. Cable and Wireless will then conduct a site survey to ensure good reception, good line quality and schedule the installation work.
