|
On an afternoon of fun and entertainment, sportsmanship reigned over the competing teams of the first ever CCB Trendsetters Domino Competition. Opposing teams such as the Police and Stars both fell victims to the Lions who made quick work of their opponents.

1st place - Lions

In a card for card and slam for slam setting the three competed for the coveted prizes of US$200.00 and a trophy, to the winner; US$150.00 and a trophy to the second placed competitor and the third placed team taking away $100.00 and a trophy as well. While on the board, one could here the regular call of, “Lions” as they romped through the opponents.
The first set of games saw second place Police take on the Stars. The Stars were the first to win a game and picked up several games in quick succession. Be it the change of moods or a swing of the dominoes, the Police started inching into the competition. A couple of slams and police cheers saw them move past the start to be the first team to reach eleven. That match ended eight games to eleven in favour of the Police.

2nd place - Police

With their spirits raised, the Police were now eager to test their wits against the Lions. The Police’s hopes were soon dashed as the Lions, unlike the Stars, took the lead and never looked back. Tony and Arthur were the cream of the crop as the Lions rolled easily passed their opponents. Eleven to six was the score line as the Lions romped to victory.
The third match up of the day featured the Stars against the Lions. Needing nine games to win the first prize, Lions went to work on the Stars. Table one featured a pair of domino veterans who argued after every loss but managed to keep the Lions afloat through the competition. In spite of the arguments, they looked like an accomplished duo with perfect understanding of each other. The Lions seated at table one were put to the test by the Stars’ Tony who was not going down without a fight, as he and his partner were relentless in their quest for victory. Battle they did, as it was game for game bringing added excitement to the afternoon’s activities. Fight all they might, it was the pair of Lions sitting at table three that were doing the damage in this encounter. They won four straight games and handing out a couple of no scores to the Stars pair in the process. Lions took the match eleven to six as well as the first place trophy and prize money. Police were second with Stars placing third.
