Letter To The Editor |
The Editor
The Anguillian,
Anguilla BWI
From Detective Chief Inspector Bernie Watson (Retired)
Dear Nat,
20th March 2007
I would ask that you include this letter in your next available edition as both Jackie and I would wish to say farewell to our many friends in Anguilla. Sadly, time, and an off / on / off scenario with my contractual position meant we eventually left without saying all the goodbyes we would have wished.
My contract with the Royal Anguilla Police, as Detective Inspector, Major Crime, Financial Crime and CID Development, was not renewed and we returned to England after two years, among you, last week. We both knew we would miss Anguilla and her people very much, but it was not until after we returned to the UK did we in fact realise just how much and how many friends we had made.
In particular, we wish to thank the many, many people who took us to heart from the very beginning of our being among you, particularly for Jackie who had to leave our daughters at a crucial time to come to Anguilla and for whom settling in was very difficult. The people of Anguilla made her feel so welcome that in the end she did not wish to leave! In fact neither of us did.
So to all of those with whom we became acquainted we would like to say farewell, and wish you all the very best for the future. Yours is a wonderful country and we both hope that Anguilla prospers and goes from strength to strength as she deserves.
May God bless you all, until we meet again.
Bernie and Jackie Watson
