A Government press release stated that the tariff structure for the hire of taxis was agreed between the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Taxi Association.
The structure of rates was developed in consultation between the two parties with input from the Transport Board, the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association and the Anguilla Touristy Board. Approval was given by the Executive Council on November 17 for the creation of the necessary regulation for the implementation of the new arrangements.
As a consequence of those arrangements, the island is now divided into ten zones and extra charges have been added on entry into each zone. The additional charges progress in the sequence of US$8+$4+$4+$4+$2+$2+$2+$2, according to the release. This new structure replaces the old point to point system which only indicated tariffs from the ports of entry.
