Anguilla Hosts 3rd Tranquility Jazz Festival

For this the 3rd year, Anguilla will host the Annual Tranquility Jazz Festival. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than the years before. The Festival is once again being produced by BET Event Productions and the Anguilla Tourist Board with the premier sponsors being the Anguilla Social Security Board and the National Bank of Anguilla Ltd; silver sponsors Pyrat Rum and Temenos/St. Regis, supporting sponsors Avis/Apex, Paradise Cove Resort, the host hotel CusinArt Resort and Spa and the official airline American Airlines/American Eagle.

This auspicious musical event is recognized as a destination marketing tool capable of building recognition for the island in its major market segments, while providing benefits to all sectors of the local economy. Once again Anguilla will receive prominent destination coverage in the form of television advertising throughout the USA and the Caribbean.

This year’s Tranquility Jazz event will feature acclaimed straight ahead jazz artistes like Ravi Coltrane the tenor and soprano saxophonist, composer and band leader son of legendary jazz maestro John Coltrane; Freddy Cole pianist/vocalist younger brother of the celebrated Nat King Cole and uncle of Natalie Cole; versatile jazz vocalist Marlena Shaw; musical virtuosos Poncho Sanchez, Kenny Garrett and Mulgrew Miller; Chilean jazz vocalist Claudia Acuna; the Brazilian jazz group Trio da Paz; tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander and vibraphonist Stefon Harris.

Visitors to the island will have a chance to experience the mellow rhythms of jazz in the serene, yet sophisticated, ambience of tranquil Anguilla and succumb to the sensuous appeal of Anguilla’s powdery white sands, relax, unwind, experience the island’s eclectic cuisine. So plan now to be a part of this “straight ahead” jazz celebration of tranquility in Anguilla. It’s a jazz thing!

As usual it’s going to be “straight, no chaser”, so save the dates November 9th – 13th, 2005. Visit www.anguillajazz.org for more information.
