Seven Days on Anguilla

Long wide stretches of sand, great for holidays. But what about behind the dunes and sea grape that line the shore. Island life is mysterious and rich, have a look, there’s lots to see inland.

Finish
People make a trip to the market when the fresh produce comes in every week. If you are fast you can pick up the best. But as you check out one batch…the other might be bone! It’s best to pick one and stick with it, or…you may just hear “FINISH”
Home Late
Been out all day and half the night…fishing? A hard way to make a living, but there are not many choices. Besides, the sea is a good place to be… breezy and light. The house is small, dark, and even with the windows open, things can get very hot…and lonely.
Stoney Ground Slam
Walk along any road in Anguilla from early evening and you will hear before you see the loud slam of the domino. Groups gather around small wooden tables and wait their turn to play. Often these sessions will go on into the night when all is quiet except for the sound of victory…SLAM!
Johnno’s Saturday Nite
There is only one place to go on Saturday nite, late. Head down to Sandy Ground, you can hear the music all the way up South Hill. Come to dance…or have a peep and see who is watching WHO!

I like to create image hoses for the natural elements in my illustrations. Rather than using a scanned photo or item to produce an image hose I create the nozzle beginning with simple shapes. In this image hose the shapes created produce grass that works well in a meadow setting.
