A delegation of seven (7) Accommodation members from the AHTA, including Mrs. Sherille Hughes, President of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, and 3rd Vice President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, will travel St. Thomas this week, to participate in the Small Hotels’ Retreat which is hosted by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Organization.

The Anguilla Hotel and Tourism recently conducted a highly successful Youth Escape Culinary Programme with 22 participating children on the island. This programme lasted 5 days from Monday, 17 August to Friday, 21 August 2009 and was designed to keep children on school holidays occupied while building their interest in the Culinary Arts. They were exposed to various segments of the culinary field and met with some of Anguilla’s most noted chefs, farmers (poultry and agriculture) as well as the Anguilla Junior Culinary Team members, and of course, our very own Caribbean Chef of the Year, Mr. Glendon Carty of Ripples and Cap Juluca.

“AHTA Election of Officers” – The Board of Directors (BOD) of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA) held an election of officers at its Board meeting on Tuesday, 25th August 2009. Ms Kay Ferguson, Executive Director chaired the election for the officers of the AHTA Board and was ably assisted by Mrs Gilda Gumbs Samuel, Membership and Events Manager. Nominations were accepted for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

“Regional Tourism at Risk of Losing Edge” – Mr Alec Sanguinetti, CD, Director General and CEO of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association was warmly received as keynote speaker for the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) at CuisinArt Resort & Spa on Thursday, 23rd July 2009.
