The action of the Chief Minister of Anguilla in refusing to attend the Royal Wedding was effectively analysed in the Editorial of this newspaper dated, April 29, 2011. Such analysis may help us all to remember to think clearly before we act. |

Lynwood Bell writes to People of Anguilla
Dear Anguillans
You may not have a particular interest in Anguilla's "Greatest Unexploited National Asset"."Zero Tax", but you may find the linked four page review of a book on "Tax Arbitrage" by Nigel Feetham, partner at Hassans International Law firm (one of our overseas law firms) very informative in relation to Anguilla's current position as a Tax Arbitrage nexus.

Stoney Ground
Dear Sir:
NEED FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS TRAINING
Somehow I was of the impression that I was not liked very much at the Treasury, but now that other persons have complained in The Anguillian about how they were treated there, I have concluded that it has to be a lack of public relations training.

Re: Repeal of the Interim Stabilization Levy
|
|
| |
May 4th 2011
Hon. Hubert Hughes
Chief Minister
Dear Chief Minister,
Re: Repeal of the Interim Stabilization Levy
The Anguilla United Front’s Parliamentary Opposition in the House of Assembly, together with the members of the Party’s Executive Committee and General Council have concluded, after careful and detailed examination, that the Interim Stabilization Levy Act, 2011 is highly inequitable and unjust especially to low and medium income employees in Anguilla, to the self employed and also to employers.

WHAT IS THE LATEST ON FLAG?
|
|
| |
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
The Editor,
The Anguilian
Dear Sir:
WHAT IS THE LATEST ON FLAG?
I have been wondering for sometime what is the latest twist regarding the Flag/Temenos Project about which so little is being heard these days. It is such an agonizing pity that this development continues to remain dormant. By now it certainly could have been contributing immensely to employment, Anguilla’s up-market tourist industry and the island’s economy, now in a dismal situation.

Dear Mr. Editor:
UNPROFESSIONAL WORKERS
As a government employee it saddens me to see the negative behaviour of some civil servants who seem to forget that they are employed to serve the public.

TALK SHOWS AND AUM SUPPORTERS

The Editor
The Anguillian Newspaper
Dear Sir:
TALK SHOWS AND AUM SUPPORTERS
Please grant me space in your publication for this short letter.
It seems to me that some very strong supporters and believers in Government are not in favour of the Stabilisation Levy. I listened to the ON THE SPOT programme onKlass FM last week Thursday and I was surprised to hear at least two very strong supporters of the AUM voicing their objection to the Levy.

Dear Sir:
The other day a friend related an incident to me where he felt humiliated when trying to find out whether there was a cheque for him to collect at the Treasury. I can empathize with him because I have had similar experiences.

CONFUSED BY THE STABILISATION LEVY
|
|
| |
Editor of The Anguillian
Sir:
CONFUSED BY THE STABILISATION LEVY
This StabilisationLevy seems to be “distablised”. I really believe that even Government Ministers are confused about the levy. As a Government worker I am really grateful to have a job, but it comes a point in time when one has to say enough is enough.

Our trip to Anguilla from Dallas, Texas, began as usual with a couple planes, a ferry ride with Franklin Connor on The Link and then a cab ride to our villa at Indigo Reef. Since this was our 10th visit, this was just the norm to reach the island we fell in love with on our very first trip.
