YOUTH FORESEEING IN THE FUTURE
These are crucial times, and it would appear that as the society moves from bad to worst many have asked the question “where is the next generation heading?” This question has lead an Anguillian citizen to the quest of educating himself and in turn contributing positively to his community.
This Anguillian is Jamie D. Hodge.

The Anguillian Newspaper
Dear Sir:
On March 30, 2006, the Primary Schools of Anguilla enjoyed their Annual Sports Day. There was much fun, laughter and good-natured competition.. It is gratifying to see positive attitudes being fostered at an early stage in a child’s development. Such attitudes must be carefully nurtured as children mature.

Dear Sir:
In regarding the letter dated March 24, 2006, written by visitors to Anguilla, about the insulting and embarrassing encounter while strolling on one of Anguilla’s public beaches, some issues come to mind. Investors who are given permission to create a successful, multi-million dollar project on our island are entitled to safe, clean and secure beach areas for guests. |

Letter to the Government and The Anguillian Newspaper
ENJOYING THE BEACHES
To: CM Osbourne Fleming, Hon. Victor Banks, Hon. Kenneth Harrigan, Hubert Hughes, Hon. Albert Hughes, Edison Baird & Hon. Evans Rogers, Ministers of the Island of Anguilla.
My husband and I first came to Anguilla in the early 1970’s. The first paved road had just been laid and the only electricity on the island was produced by owner operated generators. We fell in love with every inch of it – the atmosphere, the beaches and as everyone who comes here does, with the Anguillian people themselves. |

A LETTER OF GRATITUDE
After sampling many islands in the Caribbean, my wife and I long ago decided that Anguilla was our favourite and we have been regular visitors for close to twenty years.
During our most recent stay in mid-February, my wife became ill and it was necessary to organize a medevac (medical evacuation) back to our local hospital in New Jersey.

March 19, 2006
Dear Editor,
BEACH POLLUTION AT RENDEZVOUS BAY
We awoke Sunday morning to a fleet of 16 sailboats anchored below our house in Rendezvous Bay. These boats with home ports as far away as Rio de Janeiro and as nearby as Marigot, were here for this year’s MoonSplash. Our daughter, home from college for spring break had come home during the wee hours after enjoying Bankie’s annual bash.

First Impressions - Last Longest!

The Editor,
The Anguillian
Newspaper
Dear Sir,
First Impressions – last longest!
This heading is a universally accepted truth! It is also true to say that the future prosperity of Anguilla, and indeed most Caribbean islands, is heavily dependent upon the tourist industry. This being the case I thought your readers might be interested in hearing about my first impressions when my wife and I arrived on Wednesday of this week.

Give Up The Guns

Dear Mr. Editor:
GIVE UP THE GUNS
I am of the opinion that if someone does not speak out against the gun-slinging here, the rocks will cry out. Everywhere you go among Anguillians, the question is being asked – “Lord what Anguilla is coming to?” A few years ago I could sleep in my home with doors and windows open, day and night, now I am afraid to stay inside with them closed.

Dear Sir:
PEOPLE NEED TO
TALK TO THE POLICE
How in the name of the law when something happens in an area where there are houses and people that no one can see or hear anything? Such seems to be the case in Anguilla these days when a crime is committed.

Valley, Anguilla
B.W.I
Dear Editor:
Anguillians should know that during a meeting some years ago, that Hon. Osbourne B. Fleming held with Anguillians in New York, yours truly made the suggestion that the Government of Anguilla should strive to become more transparent, and seek to provide timely and accurate information to Anguillians on and around issues that affect their daily lives; as well as to create a public forum to give Anguillians a pro-active voice whereby they could express their opinions, and seek re-dress on issues and concerns.
