TOURISM MASTER PLAN LAUNCHED IN ANGUILLA A New Vision For The Island's People

A Tourism Master Plan project, which was announced earlier for Anguilla, with funding by the Caribbean Development Bank in the sum of US$150,000, was formally launched on Wednesday this week. Chief Minister and Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, the Hon. Hubert Hughes, did the launching at the Temenos Golf Course clubhouse.

Four fifth-year students at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School in Anguilla are the winners of the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Regional Quiz competition, which was held at the University Centre in Trinidad. They are Senegal Carty, Chelsea Hughes, Simone Greaves and Chaniece Lewis. They were accompanied by teacher Angele Richardson, who recently completed a degree, with First Class Honours, in Home Economics in Jamaica.

Anguilla’s Minister of Health, the Hon. Edison Baird, has expressed thanks to the Venezuelan authorities for assisting his Ministry, and the island’s Government, in flying out a severely injured national of that South American country back home for specialised treatment, not available locally.

Police: Thefts continue and burglaries continue
During the period November 17th to November 24th ten thefts were reported in The Valley, East End, Stoney Ground, Island Harbour, Blowing Point, South Hill, North Valley and George Hill. The items stolen included a gold chain, blackberry cell phones, car battery, car tires, t-shirts, goats and cash. Three burglaries were reported in Blowing Point, North Side and Stoney Ground.

(AMPP), including its record label West Indie’ Records, is hosting its the first annual West Indie’ Music Festival on Saturday November 27th, at 5pm, at the Dune Preserve. Students at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, who may wish to study at colleges and universities in the Caribbean and further afield have been given an opportunity to meet representatives of a number of educational institutions. They also met with personnel from the National Bank of Anguilla, the Caribbean Commercial Bank, the Anguilla Development Board and the Anguilla Government’s Training Unit which, over the years, have provided various student loans and scholarships.
