HUGHES RAISES CONCERN ABOUT VOTERS’ LIST CM Says No Need To Worry, Just Register Well

Opposition Member, Hubert Hughes, is finding fault with the registration of voters. He is charging that a number of persons have been left off the list, but Chief Minister, Osbourne Fleming, says that the new system is going very well and that there is a recourse for anyone whose name was not registered. He stressed that all that is required is for persons to supply the required documentation to have their names registered.

Blowing Point Port & Community College: House Approves Borrowing Funds From CDB

The Anguilla House of Assembly has approved a Government motion to borrow two long-term loans from the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank to finance the planned Blowing Point Port Development Project and the Anguilla Community College Hospitality Institute. Though approved by the House, it is also required that the borrowing of the money must have the prior approval of the Secretary of State in London.

In the Police Report on Wednesday this week, the media was told that on Monday, March 16 police officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery at the National Bank of Anguilla. On arrival the police found John Lake Jr. of Cauls Bottom armed with a machete demanding money from the bank’s staff. He was disarmed and arrested. |

Police in Anguilla are warning the people of the island against being caught in a scam being perpetuated via Ebay especially when purchasing motor vehicles with Moneygram or Western Union transfers. The warning came as two Anguillians fell victims of this scam having paid US$4,000.00 each for two vehicles which they have never received, and for which no shipping arrangements were made.
