This year Camp Be Aware is gearing up for the 13th edition of its annual two-week summer environmental programme to be held from July 11-22nd 2011. Sylvana Charles Wins Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant

At the Pageant on Saturday evening six teenagers competed for the title of Miss Caribbean Talented Teen. Sixteen year old Sylvana Charles from the British Virgin Islands was the clear winner, also winning the Miss Congeniality prize and Best Promotional Speech. She is graduating from high school this year and wants to pursue a masters degree in performing arts. She said that she loves singing, dancing, theatre and reading.

This year the Anguilla Renewable Energy Office (AREO) celebrated Earth Day by supporting the implementation of a demonstration organic garden at the Alwyn A. Richardson Primary School, better known as the West End School. Local Organic Farmer Leroy Browne, who was a big hit at last year’s island-wide Earth Day celebration, has developed an initiative to bring organic farming right into the hands of Anguilla’s youth by setting up gardens in the primary schools.
