The All Hazards Risk Reduction and Safety Fair 2011, held on May 27, on the Agricultural Department’s grounds, came four days before the official start of the hurricane season on June 1. It demonstrated that Anguilla was experiencing increased awareness of the risks associated with other hazards, according to Deputy Governor, Stanley Reid, whose responsibilities include disaster preparedness.

WHAT’S IN A TANK OF COOKING GAS?

One of the domestic areas covered by the recent Risk Reduction and Safety Fair, held in Anguilla for the third year, was cooking gas used predominantly throughout the island. Adults and children, who visited the SOL gas stall, were surprised to learn that the fuel supply provided in a cylinder, or ‘gas tank’, was in fact in liquid form.

I use the term “punctuation mark” because Anguilla’s history did not begin or end with the Revolution --- but it is certainly better because of it. The Revolution was undoubtedly our finest hour.
