Cap Juluca Supports Anguillian Children

Children at the Adrian T. Hazell Primary School and the Blowing Point Youth Development Centre are benefitting from separate donations of US$5,000 each presented on their behalf by Chairman and CEO of Cap Juluca, Adam Aron.
Mr. Aron made the presentation to Parliamentary Secretary, Hadyn Hughes, on Friday, September 17.

On Friday July 30th, 2010 The Anguillian carried an article based on a press conference held by the Chief Minister, Hon. Hubert B. Hughes, and his son the Parliamentary Secretary, Haydn Hughes. The press conference was actually held on Tuesday July 28th and as a consequence the news had already been circulated on the various broadcast media that Viceroy Resort was sold to an investment group, Starwood Capital Group (SCG); an MOU was signed; the new buyer would be paying US$ 40 million in taxes; and the Government would be receiving 9% Alien Land Holding Licence fees on every villa sold.

The presentation ceremony was chaired by the Senior Vector Control Officer, Mr. Alex Fleming, who reminded everyone in attendance that, “This is the Vector Awareness’ eleventh year and some of our programs are the pre–school jingles, primary schools poster and themes, best kept cemeteries, the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS) Campus A inter house spelling B and the ALHCS Campus B Stanley Mussington Essay competition."

This time, a new grouping, called Anguilla U-jamaa Productions Ltd., has emerged to produce the 2010 Tranquility Jazz & Golf Festival. The Governor of Anguilla, His Excellency Alistair Harrison, has announced that the Minister for the British Overseas Territories, Mr. Henry Bellingham PM, will be visiting the Turks and Caicos Islands and Anguilla during the period September 19-23.
Speaking at his monthly press conference on Tuesday this week, Governor Harrison explained that it would be Mr. Bellingham’s first visit to any of the Overseas Territories since he took up his appointment following the General Election in the United Kingdom in May this year.

Interpol Visits Anguilla Interpol To Recommend Security Upgrades

Mr. Roger Sauvain, NCB (National Central Bureau) Development Co-coordinator, and Mr. Carlos Rocha, Regional Specialized Officer, both of Interpol visited Anguilla this week to upgrade their systems. In his address to the media Mr. Sauvain said that he was very impressed with the Interpol Office in Anguilla, and is here to recommend the implementation of a new communication tool to bolster the island’s security.
