Mary Clare Haskins Admitted To The Anguilla Bar

Ms. Mary Clare Haskins, the daughter of Sheila and Sherman Haskins of Corito, is the latest Anguillian to be admitted to the Anguilla Bar. Ms. Haskins was admitted to the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, Anguilla Circuit, as a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor on 7 June, 2010. The 28 year old lawyer was admitted to the Anguilla Bar by Retired Appeals Court Justice Albert Redhead. Her application for admission was made by Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge and supported by Mrs. Tara Ruan.

Carissa Webster-Lake Graduates As Doctor Of Medicine

Dr. Carissa Webster-Lake of Long Road, Anguilla, has graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Webster-Lake, who is the daughter of Zulma Webster and Albert S Lake, attended the Stoney Ground Primary School and the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School from which she graduated in 2002. That same year she matriculated at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas and pursued undergraduate studies in Biology in preparation for Medical School. Carissa had always excelled academically and continued this trend while at UVI. |

Monifa Fahie recently graduated cum laude with a BA degree in Biological Science from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. The University held its Commencement on May 23, 2010. She pursued a double major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in French. She entered the University in August 2006.

Ashena Graduates With A Bachelor of Arts Degree In Music

One Saturday May 15th, 2010 at 7:00 pm, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) conducted their 46th Annual Commencement Exercise. Two hundred and two students participated in this exercise of which there were seven Anguillian students. Among them was Ashena K. DeSouza who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. Ashena is the daughter of Ashford and Icilma DeSouza of Rock Farm. Ashena was the recipient of a full music scholarship from the Government of Anguilla in 2006.

The donation, from the Anguilla Community Foundation and a friend of the Learning Centre, was presented to the centre by Seymour Hodge, a well known Anguillian voluntary worker.

The Third Annual Primary Schools Award Ceremony at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium on Thursday, November 19, saw a large number of students receiving presentations for outstanding performance in a number of subject areas as well as sports. The overall sponsor was the Anguilla Electricity Company (ANGLEC).
The awardees, some of whom are now students at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, were from the six Government Primary Schools and the privately run Central Christian School and the Teacher Gloria Omolulu Institute. |

The 2009 Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School’s Science Fair turned out to be a great success with a number of subject matters having been well-thought out and showcased by the participating students assisted by their teachers.
The award-winning event was sponsored overall by National Commercial Data Services (NCDS), a joint project owned by Caribbean Commercial Bank and National Bank of Anguilla which also provides services to other institutions in the region.
